We all know that pizza tastes good. Nutritionists are also telling us pizza is very good for us.
Pizza's reputation for a low nutrition junk food is undeserved and the popular view of it as an unusually high calorie food isn't entirely accurate either. In fact, the American Council of Science and Health stated "Plain pizza provides substantial amounts of protein, calcium, vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and iron."
Of the eight key nutrients usually listed on nutrition labels, the only one that's in short supply in a cheese pizza is vitamin C, which is easily corrected if you include sweet peppers in the topping. |
